I had a somewhat crappy day on Saturday. It doesn't happen often but it was my turn in the barrel.

Be safe,

Well, atleast you didn't watch it go to the bottom of the lake.

My partner and I have both broke numerous Power Tackle rods. Worst part is they will not give any type of break on replacement if out of the 1 year warranty period. I have mostly G. Loomis rods now. $100 bill gets you a new one no matter when or how you break it.

Like 3 Power Tackle rods have broke while swinging a less than 3 pound fish in the boat properly.

I liked the rods, they are decent. But the durability has been an issue.

love my TFO rods, broke one I got at the legends of fork tournament 3-4 yrs. back, texted a pic of broken rod and had a new one in 3 days ups, no charge for any of it.
I paid 60.00 for the rod originally, they sent me a 180.00 rod back to replace it.
that my friends is customer service!

I have never used a Power Tackle rod. I am an admitted rod-snob. I got used to the feel of Loomis many years ago. I have a couple NRX's, and I will tell you this after using them. They are as close to unbreakable as a rod can be.

I watched my partner "high-sticking" his rod fish after fish with his 6' 8" NRX. He's in heaven now so I know he won't be offended if I tell the story. He was very overweight so he wouldn't kneel down to lip any of his fish. We were on a private lake where an average day is 100 fish Per Person per day. He was lifting every fish he caught into the boat with his NRX rod. Then he would high stick the rod while he was trying to get the fish to stop flopping around so he could lip it and remove the hook. I watched him do this about 50 times that day with fish up to 4 pounds.

I was on the front deck with Alton Jones. I would cringe every time my bud on the back deck would lift another fishing into the boat, thinking the rod would explode any moment. Alton looked at me and said, "What kind of rod is he using?" I could tell he was thinking the same thing I was thinking!

Every rod will break if you do something dumb with it. It's not worth breaking a $550 rod to retrieve $2 worth of terminal tackle. Wrap the line around your hand and break it off.
