So after another rainstorm, and getting up kind of late due to going out and having too many beers Saturday night, I needed to find a spot to go fishing that wouldn't be too flooded or brown and wouldn't be a long drive. I wanted to go to Medina lake, but didn't want to have to pay for possibly bad fishing, so I went somewhere free for bad fishing- Converse. It ended up being a horrible fishing outing. Only a few bites, only had one fish actually on, lost a spoon, had lots of line tangles and other issues and I got super burned from wearing a tank top on the water for hours. The highlight of my day was hooking into what felt and looked like a very large bluegill. It felt heavier than my PB bluegill from a few months ago, I'm thinking around a pound and a half. I got a brief glimpse of it near the boat and then it dove fiercely and fought like hell to stay down. I pulled so hard trying to bring it up that the hook broke- and lost the fish. I only have a few other bites all day which I assume were other sunfish but they are few and far between. I didn't get any bites on my lures, but the water was pretty murky. Anyways, if you want to catch fish don't go to Converse! It is a decent park for walking around the lake though.

That lake gets a ton of fishing pressure. There are still some big bass and huge Channel Cats there. They are just hard to catch. thumb

I only saw once fish surface feeding that day, not a very good sign. Of course it was after a rainstorm.

Not that it will help right now, but I saw where TPWD stocked more Large Mouths in there recently.

Just one more cast!
