Hit a rock yesterday and cracked my shaft from top to bottom.Question bein can I just change shaft or do I need to disassemble motor I assume water gets in there.Thanks

The shaft and motor is all one unit and will have to be replaced as a whole. If you’re the original owner, it should be under warranty. If not, it’ll run you about $650 from a service center.

just had this happen. minn kota has a 3 year warranty so if ur in that 3 years everything is free, if your outside that 3 years minn kota will cover the parts but not labor which a shop will charge you a hour labor if you have proof of purchase

Yep. And the shaft is sealed to the motor. They replaced mine as an entire assembly. New motor, US2, wiring, everything.

Just curious. If the motor is sealed to the shaft how are you able to adjust the trolling motor up and down?

Just curious. If the motor is sealed to the shaft how are you able to adjust the trolling motor up and down?

You lift the shaft and motor as one unit. There is a slip collar that you tighten afterwards on the shaft that holds that position.
