If anyone is interested, that lake is hot right now. I went the past two Thursday's and both days I caught about 30 - 35 in 6 -8 foot of water. Most were in the 2.5 range. But I did get a 5, 4.5, and a couple in the 3's. Mostly on finesse worms. The bigger fish were on jigs. The crazy thing is that the water temp is around 80. I know many of you wont believe this, but it seems like they are spawning. Don't know how much longer. But beds are everywhere.

Are you sure youโ€™re not seeing Tilipia beds? Nice job regardless.

We were catching bass that were sitting in talapia beds or staging around them. I was watching them on the graph and casting at the largest number on beds. Guess some of the talapia beds are so deep they can use them as cover. At one point we caught like a dozen within a casting range of 15 yards. Most over 3 but a few 2s. Super fun given the wind. We were watching a guy in a big red bass boat catch enormous bluegill with his friend near grass. They were having fun to it seemed ๐Ÿ˜Š

When I am not fishing I am thinking about fishing. And mostly what I should have done differently my last trip!

The race to Fayetteville never stopped, was there Friday and the parking lot looked like a Holiday weekend.

Thats really good numbers with all the pressure it gets. There are several guides that are on it all the time along with good many boats. Starting about Wednesday the lot gets really crowded. I have started to go on Mondays and Tuesdays if I am bass fishing. I think the lake is going to get even more crowded in the mornings since the park now starts locking the entrance gates at 8 pm.

Pretty typical this time of year before water temps gets in the 90's. Not uncommon to catch 50+ fish out there. They group up as good as any lake in Texas

I know many will say Tilipia beds, but I talk to several locals because things just didn't seem right. Two of the guys that fish out there a lot said the exact same things. The amount of fish blowing up in the grass/reeds is just crazy. I seriously fished two locations each day in about a 25 yard area and caught all of my fish. I didn't work the banks.

I would and do agree. I was getting that from some locals on the water. One of them said that he had eggs coming out of one of the fish. I didn't see that and I would say that they are just schooling in this areas. Also I am not saying that they bass are truly spawning.

I try and go during the week because that little lake is getting worked over. Thursday last week I thought there was a tournament going on. I have to drive from College station so I try and make an entire day. This lake and bastrop seem to be the only decent lakes near me that are worth bass fishing. Gibbons suck IMO(you can only fish on the weekends) and I have not looked at conroe. I will say that both days the evenings slowed way down. Most activity was early morning to noon.

fun lake, always has been. Love the fact that we share the info, I kinda agree with Phoenix 920, seems like an average day of fishing Fayette.

Cool to hear they still have eggs.

The "worked over, or over pressured" dialogue has been going on for 20 years. is this year it will receive too much pressure?

Well I just got back into fishing after almost 20 years. Raising family, working, hot rods and most of all hog hunting filled the spot. But my son really loves fishing and I am really enjoying being on the water myself. Got a cheap boat last year and finally back on the water. Fayette has become my home lake for now. I still need to learn the lake patterns over this year. But if 30-50 is "norm" that is fine by me. Never was interested in tournament style, I just love being on the water. I still haven't figured out why all of the guys are on points and areas off of grass lines. It is a fun and good little lake. This will be the first year I will be doing "offshore fishing", not sure what to expect since it will be new to me.
