For 2021 on the PGA tour #100 is $827,000 with 3 Top 10 and 5 Top 25 in 23 events. Made 12 cuts. So cut more than making it. Money in golf is ridiculous. It would be interesting to see where it all comes from.

The tab for setting up a single tournament has to be ridiculous. I live where they played the Houston Open for the last 10 years before it just left. They start setting up about 8 weeks prior to the tournament date.

the tab is pickup by advertisers that are trying to reach a segment of folks who they hope will buy their product they pay lots of money for the ads because it works for them , trying to compare golf to pro fishing is a lost cause they will never be the same.

But....look at a price of a trolling motor
Look at the price of a graph
Bass fishing can be a very expensive hobby.
Rods/reels are very expensive, lure cost that boggles your mind, even the fishing lines have a hearty price tag.
If you add in a bass boat, fishing way exceeds what it takes to play golf.
Golf you will pay a greens fee, fishing you have to fill up your boat with gas. I know just me, that’s a good $100. Then you will have to pay gas for your truck. Then add in the cost if you fishing a tournament, from $10 to $1500 per tournament.
Back when I fish a bigger fishing trial, I figured every tournament I fished in cost me around $2000 for everything. I can play a lot of golf on that.
Today’s bass fishermen that fishies the larger tournaments, I’m guessing before the even throw the fist lure in the water they have invested $100,000 to $150,000 in boat, truck, equipment and lures.

I've got a 20 foot Champion and a 22' Pathfinder. I fish 3 days a week. Believe me I know the costs of fishing.

But I also play golf. Just don't love it like I do fishing. But to the topic of the OP, fishing will never be like golf. Just won't happen. Golf is world wide. Bass fishing isn't. There isn't bass everywhere.

Plus about maybe .05% care about tournament bass fishing as tournament golf. Probably less than that.

Apple's.....oranges.....

But the primary reason is the income demographic of the average viewer/consumer/participant as well as the television ratings/dynamic. Golf is played, literally, all over the world and by tens of millions. The Phoenix Open, pre Covid, will have the better part of 125 - 150k spectators, per day, on Saturday/Sunday.....a weigh in might have a couple of thousand. Like I said.....apples, oranges.

The truth is most people in the USA do not understand the amount of wealth there is in our country. Biggest reason is that there's such a huge discrepancy between the working middle class and the true upper class today.

It's crazy one can live in a $500K + house, have 2 paid for vehicles that are valued over $100K and have a nice $50K+ paid for boat to fish from and are still middle classers...
