To be truthful, I've never done very well bass fishing on FCL. I'm now fishing out of a kayak and would like to chase bluegills on the lake. Not asking for anyone's "secret hot spot", but anyone offer any general advice on where they are right now? I assume they're either on the spawning beds or nearing that point. Of course that means they'll be near shorelines but what type? Reed lined? Heavy vegetation? Light vegetation? Do they bite any and everything or is there a best bait to use?
I'm reasonably familiar with the lake, just looking for some pointers to get me in the ball park.

Worms! If they don't bite on that, they won't bite on anything!
Just one more cast!

45r...Right now the bluegill are staring to bed, so if you can find 1, you will find 50 or more. They typically spawn in 5-8 foot of water. I use Gulp Alive 1" minnows for bait on a drop shot set up. I only put the weight about 5-6 inched below the hook. I use #6 hook & 1/8 OZ. weight. There are reeds all around the lake so that doesn't help you much, but I have started catching them right up next to the reed beds in the past week. Of course all reed beds are not created equal, and maybe 10 % will be productive. When they start bedding they do not bed in the heavy vegetation, but sometimes close to it. If you find them (the key) you can catch them on just about anything, but the Gulp Alives are a sure thing. I will share one spot with you. The reeds directly across from the cabins at Oak Thicket (south shore reeds on that cove) can be real good. The biggest red ear I have ever caught from FCL came from those reeds. (1.5 lbs) Look for the best indentations in the reeds & don't be afraid to go inside the reeds a little...You may get snagged some, but the pay off can be big. Also you can catch a lot of bass that way...Hope this helps some...
