Last few rodeos we noticed Riley and Gator weren’t clocking and Gator seemed out of breath. Sunday after Riley and Gator made their run Riley said somethings not right. Sure enough she was right. It appears his flapper is stuck ( the flesh that helps regulate breathing in the esophagus ). He had surgery today to fix it but is going to have a 6-8 week recovery. The timing is bad with State Finals coming up and the PRCA Jr NFR coming up. Riley won’t be able to run the big guy that them there but vet says once he recovers it will be a whole new horse and another gear or two. Send one up for a successful surgery and recovery. This team deserves it. Super proud of Riley for making the decision to not run him. The vet said he could give him shots to block it and still run short term but the long term effects could be bad. She made the right call knowing what is in front of her. [Linked Image]

Best wishes for Gators full recovery. Sounds like Riley made a difficult but mature decision

Praying for a great and fast recovery! And that he stays in shape for the next several weeks.

She did and that I am proud of. Take care of your horses and they will take care of you. Fortunately a friend has offered Riley her horse to ride at state . A proven pro rodeo winner that can win a State Championship

Well it’s Ex-wife and stepdad that make it all happen . Co-parenting does work if you allow it. Thank you for the kind words
