5/13/2021: We launched at the dam ramp at 8:30 and started fishing the shallow area on east side of dam. Nothing there then we moved north to the west arm of the tripod shaped structure. We found fish on 2 parts of it, both on the western drop-off. One on the tip of the western arm of tripod in 28 fow, and one along a side between the west and north tip in 26 fow. Then we moved up to the next structure to the north and found fish in 25 fow. In these spots we parked over the fish, tapped the boat bottom, and fished #4 Mepps straight down. By noon we caught 125 white bass 75% magnums, 5 legal hybrids to 23 inches, a 24 inch striper, a 17.5 inch hybrid, and a nice yellow bass. We left biting fish to check out Sun and Cloud points. We caught fish in both places in 17 to 20 fow, but they were much harder to catch. We ended up checking out Wolf Humps but caught only two there. We ended up with 216 whites, 9 legal hybrids, the 17.5 inch hybrid, the 24 inch striper, and the nice yellow bass. We fished the Mepps by letting it fall to the bottom, jigging it a couple of times, theN reeling it up at least 7 turns. Here are some pics:

Great day Dennis! You were probably going for 220 fish and couldn't quite get those last four.

The real problem was friend Cliff. Once I took the "clone" off and started using Mepp's I helped the count much better. Dennis only outfitted me 2 oe 3 to one. It's hard to keep up with the master , as as my wife calls him "the white bass whisperer".

Couldn't find a better friend than Dennis! Good bless him!

And thanks a million times over for the trip and friendship.

Thanks, Cliff. I have known about six people who have cloned Mepps. So far, none have been able to match the original. I kept telling Cliff to put on a real Mepps as he was struggling with his clone. When he finally did, he started catching big whites and hybrids. BTW, I have no affiliation with the Mepps company - it's just the truth.

Some of us come by the hard head honestly.

But Dennis will make a believer out of you very quickly.

I went home and ordered 6 Mepp's # 4 on line. I'll keep working on the clone. We caught a 100 whites on them Friday on CC but we cheated and fished some schooling fish part of the time. But we did catch some on the clones suing Dennis' technique. Also I had made the slight modification Dennis suggested while looking at my clone on Thursday. So I'll have to fish the new improved version on bottom fish NOT SCHOOLING FISH to see if the modification helped the catch rate some.

Thanks again Dennis for putting up with me.

By the way Bruce and I are planning to fish the White Bass Tourney on June 26th.

Good haul for sure!! Lake Tawakoni is on fire.
When you say Mepps #4 are you using just the spoon or as an in-line spinner with a bucktail? Forgive my ignorance.
