Not sure if this is across the board on all Academys but a heads up. My wife bought me a pack of golf balls for Christmas, and bought the wrong ones. Due to covid I haven't been golfing much this year so took them back three weeks ago to exchange them for a more expensive brand. Receipt in hand, credit card it was charged on, and unopened box of brand new golf balls. "Sir, we no longer do exchanges/returns of any kind more than 60 days past date of sale." Me: "is that for ALL exchanges/returns?" Academy: "Yes sir". I understand it, but would be nice if they would have given notification for shoppers to make everyone aware of the a policy change of that magnitude. Admittedly they were pretty lax on their return policy as many here have acclaimed. And a lot of folks took advantage of them. I didn't see this return as taking advantage, but it is what it is. Just letting you guys know.

Do it like the old Discount Tire commercials and whack those balls through the front windows.
You could claim you are returning the balls one at a time from a socially safe distance.

Thats a bummer....i dont usually condone it, but did you consider going full Karen and asking to talk to a manager? Well not full Karen, but semi Karen....considering you were exchanging and to a pricier product I wonder if the manager couldve used their discretion to OK it. Good heads up...havent bought much from Academy lately since stock isnt great but good to know, cuz they were super lax in my experiences.

Same [censored] happened at walmart back in the day here. People buy new stuff, return an old beat version of it in the new box and getting the refund! I seen that a few times personally, and heard some stories from my cousin who worked the customer service desk a few years back.

Not to be unsympathetic to your plight but exactly how long you think you need to be able to return something. Here is an idea, wrap them up in some nice paper and stick a bow on them. Next time someone you dont really care about has a bday you give them the balls......

I tried to return some fishing stuff just for store credit. I know which card I charged them but they wanted to give me like 10% credit and told me they couldn't find the transactions. I only carry one card. It was past 30 days but Home Depot or Target would give you store credit. Academy you better have the receipt and be within 60 days. Target is one of the best.

Yep they changed their policy on returns I had a broken H2o rod it was like 2 months old and was told they didn’t accept returns even though I had the receipt after 30 days which is total [censored]… haven’t bought any rods or reels from that place since.

I'll take that bet!

Not looking for sympathy guys and I didn't raise a fit BECAUSE it was such a long time from purchase date to the "try to return it date". But, we are in a pretty unusual time, wouldn't you say? Just trying to give guys a heads up.

Returns in any sales environment are Kryptonite but part of the world we live in. I can't blame them for making the policy but you do have to transition to it.

BPS/Cabela's is 60 days dependent upon inspection. In face most retailers have a time limit on returns. Might as well shun shopping all together.

Yep. I was using the H2O Ethos rods a lot the past couple years. When I started seeing what was going on with them, I went to Southwestern Parts and service and bought the entire set of Falcons and put the Academy fan bus out to pasture.

Now academy gets my Ultrex prop and tungsten weight business. ...and maybe Seaguar line on occasion. Walmart has a better supply of hooks and senkos.

Too many take advantage of return policies that are too lax and the cost is enormous on much stuff, especially that which is seasonal. The pandemic has not only been difficult for us individually but also for businesses. Academy has been fairly customer friendly over the years, but most businesses have left the concept that the "customer is always right".
