Just went to file a protest on the house tax increase. Last year when Governor Abbott said not to increase property taxes during Covid, they went up 30% on my house. We live in a county in Texas where almost no one is wearing masks. This is what the county appraisal office looks like. I called and talked to a lady, used no foul language nor did I raise my voice and she hung up on me. This is the last day to file a protest. Where is the oversight for these appraisal districts? Even in our little subdivision, the tax increases are not uniform and they are trying to raise me again after a 30% increase last year, on a house that has a lot of problems due to the last remodel being done by a shoddy crew. RANT over.

Working from home, call them 3 times a day and send multiple emails weekly. They will respond ASAP.

I think at exactly 3;00 pm we should all start calling that number.

So this basically means I can not file a protest on my dad's property who is in assisted living unless I complete the form and make it to the post office before it closes today. I will not be able to get it done.

So where is the online protest submission page? You fill in your PARCEL ID, which is actually called a PARCEL on all forums, NOT a PARCEL ID, and it takes you to your standard property profile with no further info about filing a protest. Notice the, "If you think you should be eligible to file a protest online but cannot, please contact us here ."

So basically, I can't file a protest on my homestead either. Neither my house, nor my dad's.

Just like gambling. The odds always favor the house.

I feel your frustration J.P. I’d love to see the day when enough got together and told the tax man, you want our taxes, you come get them.

My luck they would adjust the wrong way after looking at recent comps.
