There are a lot of dog breeds out there that pose same level if not more of a threat than a pit. I have been around pits and never felt a single second of anxiousness. I have been around Chihuahuas that I would not turn my back on for a second. I personally have Boxers and they are just as gentle as can be except I have a friend that my male just does not like for whatever reason. He is the only person this dog reacts to in a uneasy manner with. He has not been aggressive but I think he would given the opportunity.

All I'm going to say is I knew an animal control officer from McLennan County a while back. Upon sitting around the firepit I asked him about dog attacks in and around Waco, and he explained in his slightly inebriated state that pits are far and overwhelming the culprit of human attacks. As in, 1, maybe 2, per year from a different breed and then the other 30 were all pits. That said, every pit I've been around has been calm. Maybe there's another metric available there that hasn't been divulged, but my experimentalist side suggests that breed in this case is a very hard value to ignore.

Read a little about the Big Spring killing yesterday. The dog killed this man while two people were beating it with sticks. Dog kept coming back for more.

You try that with a pit and it’ll eat your leg off.

If the damage they can do is the bar that is set then any of the medium to large build dogs would fall into the same category as the pit.

Neighbor on the corner has 2 HUGE Pit bulls. He was out in the yard with them & I nicely explained if they were ever out of the fence alone they are as good as dead. We have too many small children on our block & that places them in immediate danger.
Jack Russell smartest dog on the planet, I miss our Rusteedog.
Reality. What a concept!

In 2019 there were 20 direct lightning fatalities, compared with 21 in 2018, according to the National Weather Service. From 2010 to 2019 on average 26 people died each year from lightning strikes in the United States.
That's more than fatal dog bites from all breeds.....it's also more than unarmed African Americans are shot by police......so.....narratives are rarely fact driven.....
So, for the slow of thought, you're more likely to die from a lightening strike than a dog attack or a police [censored] up.....

If you are going to try to defend owning a Pit Bull, at least compare apples to apples. Not dog attacks to lightning. How about Pit Bull maulings compared to Labrador maulings or Pit Bull mauling to poodle maulings. To compare Pit Bull attacks to lightning, or unsecured guns, or car wrecks is ludicrous.

So, for the slow of thought, you're more likely to die from a lightening strike than a dog attack or a police [censored] up..... People can’t make a decision to own lighting man..... Most of the folks that own pits do it because it makes them feel like a bad a$$ which is their decision. There isn’t a reasonable argument on the side of pits and they sure as he11 can’t be compared to a lightning strike. It’s getting really old seeing these MFers in yards or running loose.

A Pit killed my Sister's dog in her front yard in front of my niece and nephew. My Dad put 32 grains of lead in it's ear in the middle of the night about a month later.
A Pit jumped on my other Sister and chewed up her arm when she was on a walk in her neighborhood. She was unable to ID the owner and never saw it again.
A Pit showed up at my house and attacked my Black Lab. Fortunately the Pit latched onto my dog's thick heavy collar and got no meat. I was able to beat the Pit off my Lab with a rather large stick that happened to be handy. I got my Lab in the house and took the Pit out with a 100 yard shot with a .308.
Pit Bulls are good for 2 things. Target practice and Buzzard food.
GOD is good!

There’s a very good reason no other breeds are ever entered. Because the wormiest pit bull on the planet will kill your dog.

Also if you want to avoid getting in any sort of trouble with the law just shoot them in the guts with a 22 short or high powered pellet gun That way they make it back to their home and die eventually when infection sets in
