It’s been a while but I was watching a HS meet in the DFW area and the finals of the 400 m or 440 yd (can’t remember) runners warming up. One guy in an outer lane looked pretty confident. By the time he hit the finish line the rest of the pack were just barely coming out of the last turn. Saw the same thing happen a couple weeks later - Jeremy Wariner. walking

I don't follow track any more but this thread had me looking around. This guy is something else.

I’ll bet he could run one heck of an anchor leg in a 4x400 on Facebook.

Thanks CCTX. Noticed in the 100 meter CJ Guidry. Wonder if he is related to Charlette Guidry from Houston? Got to see her compete when I was coaching in Houston and she was something to watch. Had a girl in the jump that was going to push her but the event got a rain delay and my girl lost her composure.

We didn’t have a track team in high school but we competed in track meets. Our baseball coach would ask who wanted to get out of school for a day to go to a meet lol. Then we would just pick something that sounded fun. I guarantee you wouldn’t be bored at any track meet we ever competed in, it was a competition to see who was the most pathetic and who would have the worst injury. Except for Johnny Ray, he was one of those generational athletes, he ended up playing pro ball for 12 years mostly with the Pirates. He won every track event he ever entered, with zero preparation. He weighed about 180 and got in the shot put, never picked one up in his life, and set a state record for all classes.

Not sure. I do see that CJ (Carlton) Guidry signed with the Houston Cougars football team at WR.

Texas Relays are actually in April but the State Meet was last week and that kid from Harlingen ran a 9.98 100m. 5th place was a 10.18. Fastest 100 m HS race ever. 9th place which was last place was a 10.39.

I know it was windy that day, but 9.98 is flying.
9.98 would have won the Olympics 100m up until 1968 (Jim Hines) and was faster than Carl Lewis’ 9.99 in 1984

That was two unbelievable fast heats, these kids keep getting bigger, stronger and faster.
