I’ve tried most methods. Dishwasher for low profile instructed caps works fine. Trucker hat, not so well for keeping shape.

First thing you should do when you get a new hat is spray it down with a water proofing spray. Give the sweat band a good soaking, until you see it dripping. Let it dry. This will keep the head band from soaking up your sweat and staining the hat. When and if you have to wash it use Dawn liquid soap and a stiff brush. Rinse it good and put it in a hat form like the one above and put the hat in the sun to dry. Use the water proofing spray again... Dan

Soaking in the sink or a bucket with detergent or woolite. Rinse well then hang to dry.

Thank you for not titling this thread “Warshing hats”. Cant stand it when people say “warshing machine” or “warshing winders” or “warshing windas”. Just reading “warshing winders” sent a chill down my spine.

Yep, Wish the regular sized adjustable hats fit my stupid jug head. Jealous of y'all that can buy one size fits all hats, let alone wear three at one time.

Us Brits/northern Europeans tend to have about 2% neanderthal DNA--larger head circumferences with frontal bossing.

I tried that once. I think most folks have tried it.
Toss a dirty hat in the garbage and get a new one.

Rules about caps. You must never fish in a cap you bought. Must wear a gimmie cap. Always store you caps top down, this keeps the luck from running out. Each cap has a finite amount of luck. If you find yourself not catching enough fish, time to switch caps Washing a cap removes any residual luck.
Your mileage may vary

OK... I've got lots of hats that I'll never wear.. usually buy two of every one I like so that I never have to wash.. Prize package to the one who posts a picture of the nastiest hat by tomorrow at noon central time.
