My son is pictured with another eel caught 5/10/21 after previously catching one in February . Again at Helton park on the San Antonio river. I'm starting to think these are not so uncommon as I saw a picture of one caught at Graytown park just north of Helton. We also caught a nice channel cat.[Linked Image][img]http://[/img]

Used to catch them all the time when I was stationed in VA. Damn things have some serious slime.

Eels? I've never caught any or seen any in fresh water. Are they native to the San Antonio River? That's a big eel, how big do they get?

I agree with Pot Licker, "that's crazy".

Texas Parks and Wildlife biologists would be glad to hear the details of the catch. They are doing a study on them.

I forwarded the post to the Biodiversity Center in Austin. They are working with TPWD on the issue.
