Iโ€™m thinking of getting rid of the old Toro gas and going with an electric. Anybody have experience, good or bad, with particular makes & models? Iโ€™m open to any experience or advice.

Thanks in advance

My neighbor has one with lights and he mows at night and I never hear it. I'm getting one when my current mower dies. It's super quiet and his lawn looks as good as any other yard.

Haven't asked make or model, but its battery powered.

You want cordless/lithium battery or 200ft of extension cord?

Been using the same plug in one for 15 years and just sharpen the blades every five years.
It was cheap and don't think the brand is around anymore.
No gasoline, no oil, no spark plugs and no problems.

I've used a corded model before to mow a tiny lawn - like maybe 500 sq feet. It was a PITA dealing with the cord, but it cut great. If I had a small yard, I'd definitely be looking at the battery powered models.

Get the 5 year extended warranty at Home Depot or Loweโ€™s and donโ€™t lose the receipt. I normally donโ€™t buy extended warranties on anything but this is the rare exception. You are placing a cheap bet that the battery wonโ€™t last 5 years. I went through several. The batteries do not last 2 seasons. Most of them lasted just over a year. The batteries quit taking a charge. I think it has to do with mowing in 100โ€™+ heat. When you take it back, they donโ€™t repair it or replace the batteries. They give you your money back and you can buy another one and start with a fresh 5 year warranty. This works great until your mower dies in August and no one has battery powered mowers in stock and wonโ€™t be receiving any more until the following Spring. That is when you will either have to hire yard service or buy a gas mower. I went back to a cheap gas mower and have had no problems.

They may have changed their policies and just replace the battery which would make sense. Even if they replace just the battery, it is still a good bet that a battery is not going to last 5 years in Texas.

Battery, I think. If it goes well, I can get rid of my gas weed eater too.

My '96 model year Honda 215HR still starts on the first pull. I change the oil every other year, sharpen the blade every year.
If it ever dies, I 'might' think about replacing it with an electric mower.
I like the EGO branded stuff Derek mentioned above!
