Funny how weigh-ins weren't a problem for many many years, now some of y'all act like they are taboo. I am sorry, but there is nothing more exciting in bass fishing than watching the classic weigh in. MLF is a cool little weekend series, but it isn't professional fishing.

LOL you realize MLF has a 5 fish division with weigh ins too?

Those stats don't take into account the condition of a lake year to year, weather, delayed/ rescheduled events, time of year etc. Hell the entire Elite season last year was almost all fall events. Throw in they are not hitting the exact lakes at same exact time of year. Even Ken Duke the bass fishing ultra stats geek says he would not put in a talent level decrease. Let's be honest too, not everyone that left was tearing it up on BASS and many are struggling in BPT.

100% agree. In my opinion the talent level is just as good as it has ever been. Just some fresh faces finally getting their shot. For some reason some folks view the anglers that left as super heroes. They were just damn good fisherman but so are the guy's that replaced them.

I don't think half the BPT could requalify for the Elite Series. And someone let beartrap know bpt pays higher entry fees than the Elites.

Neat. They pale in comparison to the Elite events, and the redcrest is such an inferior championship.

could you enlighten us on just what the entry fees are?....and.....did you notice that MLF pays all 80 places whereas BASS only pays about half the field....
p.s. I'm neutral on this, enjoy watching both tours and hope they succeed....

BASS only for me. When its too confusing to even understand who is winning a tournament its not bass fishing to me. MLF has tried to shake things up but no comparison IMO

My thoughts exactly.

If you like bass fishing and if you have a desire to learn about the sport, the people, or the industry itself, you watch both. Maybe you have a preference with one over the other...that's ok, but it's not the end of the world if someone else likes the other format. The bottom line is that it's all bass fishing and I enjoy watching any kind of it, whether they are catching 30 fish an hour or fishing for 5 bites all day. The fact that MLF is a numbers game and BASS is a 5 fish game is a LESSON in bass fishing in itself and how one approaches their day on the water! I sit here and read this stuff sometimes and I just have to shake my head. I am convinced that bass fisherman in general, may be the whiniest group of people on the planet.

Everything on your bass boat is broken......You just don't know it yet.

I watch both of them, but can't help leaning towards MLF. I honestly like the format better and if some local clubs could figure out how to do what MLF does on a smaller scale, I would love to try it out. Catch the fish, weigh it, throw it back, and whoever has the most lbs at the end wins.....I don't know...I just like it.

David Dudley said BPT Entry Fees are $5,700.

BASS does pay back down to 75th.

Like them both. BASS is more a background show in the mornings while I am on the computer, etc. I tend to watch MLF more like an entertaining TV show, when on the bike/treadmill in the garage. I try to watch BASS the same way, but find it hard to stay as engaged. Both have their place, and I prefer either over basketball, football and (now) baseball -- I would like to see both do well. This said, I wish we could get rid of the animated childish antics of a few of the BASS guys (it's enough to make me change the channel); I don't really see that with the established guys on MLF.

I still really like them both, except when they get to the offshore fairy wand lakes. I don’t care what format it is, that’s some boring tv. The beauty of being a fan and not a pro, you never have to chose one over the other, just enjoy them both. cheers
