Clear downlake. Extremely clear up the creeks. Stripers were biting really well Monday the 3rd when I fished. Shad though are hard to come by.

If Ramp number one is the ramp at the Harbor/Villa Marina is clear there. No need to leave that cove as it's chock full of fish.

Nice job Randy! Do you fish artificial or live bait?

Both
I once thought live bait was the only way.
These fish were caught on jigs very shallow.

Randy is correct. lake has a lot of striper. I was stopped by TPWD last year while crappie fishing one of the "no fishing docks" up in Cedar creek. Figured I might get a ticket but they were just doing a survey on what we were fishing for. I verified that they stocked smallmouths and asked why they don't stock Walleyes, since they will not rush out of the lake like the stripers. He said the Walleyes have to come from Colorado and TPWD were not going to buy them.

He also said they would not be stocking Stripers in PK in the next year due to the huge spawn we had during the floods. I see huge schools of stripers everywhere. Lots of them are legal size but there are lots of 15-16 inchers too. Not sure if the striper or the cormorants are responsible for the low shad numbers.

Gborg: I like those Hybrids. They fight well and I think they stay in the lake better than the stripers. I caught several of them last year in PK.

Could not agree more, Mike. I netted more keeper Hybrids from PK last year than Bporte. Bporte used to be my go to lake for Hybrids.
