When I was a kid living in Miami, 1970-1971, there was a big jungle/mangrove next to our house. On the other side of the jungle they were building a new block of houses. Being kids a bunch of us would go over and watch the guys work. They would usually stop between five and six in the afternoon (back then it didn't matter what time the sun set).
It didn't take long of some of us to get the idea to build a tree house in the jungle. After dinner we would go out to 'play'. We would raid the construction site of lumber, nails and what ever we thought we could use and we didn't take scrap.
The next morning we would meet to start construction. We built one of the badest treehouses you ever saw; Solid frame floor and walls, only a partial roof. Don't think any of the parents ever really knew where it was, what it was, or how we did it.

And I doubt if the contractor really ever realized how much stuff went missing.

It wouldn't be too hard to just crank the lift, move back a little, pick up the pallet, and load it on a trailer. confused 3

Anybody building with these prices is not very smart...

Does the value of a new home increase with the price of material?

My company is building a new Senior Housing campus and we have chain link and razor wire around the site, along with armed security.

You got that right. There is a good chance that stack of plywood will be gone by morning

In most cases yes... and they are still being sold way faster than they can be built.
