I'd like to understand how to bail on my keypad and go to an emergency-start key option, hopefully with a part I can buy and carry in my "oh carp" box.

To make Ranger ownership matters worse, Ranger has now sold off a tremendous inventory of parts to a 3rd party spare parts reseller who won't have knowledge of the parts they bought (Great Lakes Skipper). Unique parts no longer manufactured will likely go for an even higher premium now. I'd bet Johnny Morris's penny-squeezing mentality is behind it. One value proposition for Ranger used to be that they were very good with parts support for a long period of time after the sale. I'd expect those days are over now.
