It's been several years since I've gone to Texoma for crappie. Thinking about hitting Buncombe tomorrow, but don't have a clue what depth they are running. Any info on depth, water temp, etc would be appreciated. Thanks!

As of last week ...It have been super slow for me. You may can get 1-2 to bite per brush and they are very spooky. When approaching a brush, you can see 4-6 fish on it but as you get closer ...they will leave. Maybe casting to the brush may help but that is too much work for me. Another thing I noticed is ...not too many big fish on them. Could they be up close on the rocky banks? I didn't try those depths.

I don't recall the exact temp but it was still in the mid 60s and anything in 10-17' will get you bit.

Things may change this week since the weather have been somewhat stable ...I would go somewhere else grin

If the water is clear and Texoma sometimes gets very clear, shallow spawning crappie will flee to deep water if they see you. I have this issue when trying to catch spawning crappie downlake at PK. Crappie really blend in with the bottom and are hard to see in clear water. At Pk, they will spawn in 5-6 feet along the cliff bank where they have ready access to deep water. I was catching them last week post spawn in 35 feet of water and almost all of the crappie had cormorant marks on them. While I cannot readily see them the bird sure can.

Best bet might be to try along fob bottom. With all the rain that water should be stained. With crappie, stained water is your friend.

John 21:3 Simon Peter saith unto them, I go a fishing. They say unto him, We also go with thee.
