 New personal best bluegill on Fayette today.

I had 30 bass by 11:00 so I decided to see if the big bluegill were finally willing to play. Once I found the school I caught one almost every cast until I got tired of catching them. Not really any small ones in the group. As usual, I hooked a few bass on my gulp minnow. I was sure this was a bass, but when I saw it I got real serious about getting it in. I hadn't ever seen one this big. I am not as good as Vogey at taking pictures but here a couple pics I got. It weight 1.43 lbs. Alan...That's a monster gil & a really good bass as well...I wish I had weighed a few on my last trip just for reference...Maybe see you out there next week

I caught one on a squarebill there a few years ago that looked to be 17 inches long. Ridiculous. We just laighed about it and tossed it back. Now that I am.seeing all these record post I wished i had weighed it amd took a pic! Dangit
When I am not fishing I am thinking about fishing. And mostly what I should have done differently my last trip!

Dangit 17 inch long Bluegill sounds like a fish tale to me  The Biggest Bluegill in the World The world record bluegill recorded by IGFA or the International Gamefish Association was caught in 1950 at Ketona Lake, Alabama. This bluegill weighed in at a whopping 4 pounds 12 ounces and came in at 15 inches long with an astounding girth of 18-¼ inches. And the biggest Redear 17 inches long Recently weighed in at Bass Tackle Master of Lake Havasu, Arizona, the new pending world record redear sunfish weighed 6.30 pounds, measured 17 inches long and carried a 20-inch girth.
