B.A.S.S. Postpones Day 1 Of Bassmaster Elite At Neely Henry Lake, Gadsden, Alabama

High waters caused by extremely high rainfall totals Tuesday and Wednesday have forced B.A.S.S. officials to postpone the first day of competition at the Whataburger Bassmaster Elite at Neely Henry Lake.

98 anglers will compete on both Friday and Saturday, with the Top 48 advancing to Sunday’s semifinal round. The Top 10 will compete for the championship on Monday.

yeah I was watching some video of how badly it is flooded... wont be surpised if the postpone it...

bet John Cox was happy about that....he just finsihed competing 6 days at Lake Travis yesterday and apparently flew up to Gadsden,Al. to compete in the BASS neely henry tourny... I read someplace he had another boat rigged and ready to compete at neely henry....

I don't get it, they let them practice in it for 3 days and the last day was almost identical conditions, so why cancel. come on just fish

LOL. I did the same thing. I just thought it was my horrible East Texas internet.

Living on the Coosa River ( Logan Martin) this river and it's dams do create many issues, and different at each lake.
Neely Henry is a funny lake, the upper part will always flood worse because it is bottle necked and really just the nature Coosa River whereas the south end, where the dam is will be much lower as it throws as much water as possible through its dam into Logan Martin.
The problem at times is after the rain which causes the floods, these lake will not crest until 3 maybe 4 days afterwards.
Neely Henry is a lake where many people live close to the shore and near flat ground, so the south part is drain to accept the northern part after it passes through the original Coosa River basin into what most people would then begin to call it the lake part.
This is what is happening today, the upper part is cresting and the lower part is going down further awaiting these waters. It's a mess but all the water being thrown out of N.Henry is flooding Logan Martin right now. Logan Martin is what we call the catch all lake on the river chain. Logan cannot send much down to the next lake which is Lay Lake because its bank are very low and any type of water influx floods that area.
It's just a way of life living on the Coosa River chain and the dams we have that Alabama Power owns.

If they don't want to fish what its like there today they won't be fishing until next Thursday

Practice for this one was a waste of time and money, John Cox wins again...

Muddy, very high on the northern end and draining the lake the southern end. You will almost be going uphill if your go from the dam toward Gadsden
and above. That's if you do not collect some trees, limbs, docks, along the way.

Oh for sure, practice will mean nothing now.

When was his first Elite win?

Man I hate fishing muddy muddy water. Can't imagine having to do it 3 days in a row for a tournament.
