That's what I thought. Alka is the best seltzer. Tom does have a good point though.

I as well have tried the Seltzers. As one person said "Shiners are garbage" is very true. I have tried many of them and the only two brands that have any flavor are Cape Line & Truly, Cape Line being 1st choice. Doesn't make me ghey, whimpy or a prissy butt. They are refreshing after being in the shop or yard working, sit down, pop a top & cool off with a few then finish with a nice 12 year old Scotch, neat.
Reality. What a concept!

Never have and never will. I’ve become a neat drinker of manly liquor with ice cubes. Why ruin it with ice? I've never been able to drink liquor straight until I met Basil Hayden's. Always have to cut any bourbon with diet coke. Not any more. That melted ice is just perfect to water drink down where it's very palatable for my likes.

Some high-end bars make "custom" ice cubes cylindrical in shape that are sized to barely fit the glassware they use for serving bourbon. The cooling power of the large single cube is such that the bourbon is chilled quickly and kept there without rapid melting of too much ice. I made some of my own by cutting down the plastic container for frozen juice concentrates. Cut down to about a 2.5 inch height, I get a huge cube that releases from the form easily. Guests have said the idea works quite well with good bourbon poured over them.
