Do you just want a spinning rod for those techniques? I throw both on a bait caster.

Try this, go down the rod isle and pick up rods. Give them a shake and weight check, then look at the price. You might be suprised that you will find 50% are high dollar and the other on the economical side. Narrow it down and then make a choice.. I would never buy a rod without doing the shake, scratch the floor, kung fu fake cast simulation.. Remember back in the 90's I worked at Oshmans in austin. I loved this rod, but hated the grip. Then I was talking to the fly expert and he laughed. It was a all cork Tennessee grip . He said, you tape the reel on and adjust it to get the weight balance perfect.. Was old school, and I picked it up.. Still have it, and was surprised that it was a G-loomis blank. @75$ in 1994. You dont know what you dont know.. verify the eyes are sic, or the like.. I have seen some cheezy eyes start creeping into some of the rods..

I picked up a St Croix avid at an estate sale for $8.00 it still had the tags on it like new. It's my favorite wacky rod.
