I have two jalepeno plants I'll be topping probably next week. Is this something I should do to bell pepper plants as well?

I didn't last year and I did this year. I'm just now getting back to growing bells. I've grown Cal Wonders in the past and the production for me just wasn't that great so I dropped them. Added some extra beds and had some extra room so I tried King Arthur last year and they produced great. So I topped them this year just so I can compare to last years plants. What I've heard in the past is my yield will probably be lower topping a Bell. But I have nothing better to do so I topped them to see for myself. So after all that blah blah blah I just typed. I probably wouldn't top them.

Gotcha. I think I'll hold off on the bell peppers then. I'd be curious to know what happens to your yield, though!

Here are my two bells for starting off reference. You can see where I topped this one. It's gotten bushy since. I'll keep up with the progress and yield and let you know. If you zoom in you can see it has a bud that's about to bloom.

So far so good on the Bells. Lots of buds, blooms, and some have set. No complaints so far except the leaf cutter bees going to town on my pepper plants. But they are no biggie. You can see where I topped it and the side growth.

I finally just got the first blooms on my peppers this weekend. Cold start to April and May.

Very nice! I'll consider it the next time I plant some. Do you think the plant can hold up all of the weight it's fixing to put on?

That's what I'm curious to find out. I might have to stake them.
