Fished FCL yesterday from 7:30 - til 5:30. Water temp ranged from mid 70s to low 80s. Lake level was 390.83 MSL...inching closer to full pool at 390 MSL. Wind was not ideal (10-15 mph) but manageable...the main problem with windy conditions is that everyone who fishes there on a regular basis knows all the best wind break spots. Now to the fishing...Tried 10 different areas, and found sunfish in 5 of those spots. Ended up with 102 total count fish, with around 25 bass & the rest a variety of gils. The big girls were definitely eager to cooperate, and the bass bite was crazy. Caught the majority of Sunfish & all the bass on the Gulp Minnows, but tried the Gulp Alive crickets for a while & they just attacked those crickets with a vengeance. Caught my first "reeds" sunfish of the year which means they are really moving in. I believe the shad spawn event just happened, or is in progress & that is why so many bass were busting them all over the lake. Also the gar are mating everywhere &very interesting to see. You are the man! One day I tried targeting perch with a bobber and earthworms. I didn’t get a bite and haven’t tried since. Thanks for the info and I might need to try your techniques when the bass aren’t cooperating.

Jamie...I thought you would like the "reeds" comment...I think about you every time I target them now...

BJ...Right now the bass seem to be in a post spawn feeding frenzy...use anything that looks like a shad. It's kind of annoying catching bass on this lite drop shot setup because about half the time they screw it up and you have to re-tie...maybe a good problem to have...

Thanks Jagg (Yankee Crappie Magnet) , Leo & Yesenia (loved the Turkey pics) & Alan...Good luck on the water this week.

Nice looking Bluegill Vogey. Keep up the great fishing. woot

Side Note: Are the Bluegill still spawning? I am still catching sunnies on nest. hmmm

In my opinion I think this past freeze has set the timetable back a few week. noidea

Curtis...The sunfish are just starting to spawn on Fayette. For FCL everything has been pushed back 3-4 weeks & I guess it is due to the super cold snap of this winter. The good news is that it is in high gear now.

For what I have been reading, it seems to me that patterns on most fish have been set back some due to the freeze. As for the White Bass I have not noticed a change in their spawn. Fished the Llano river.

The colors on that second fish are insane. Neon green like some kind of energy drink can.

What exactly is FCL? I'm assuming Fayette County Lake? Sorry, I'm not from around here.
