Hey y’all, I’ve never been on Belton lake before and am going the first part of June this year. Looking for any pointers on lodging, places to eat, hazard in the lake and what the black bass fishing should be like at that time there. Thanks for any input!

There's nothing in the way of lodging on the water that I know of other than some shelters in several of the parks. You can probably find a house nearby through VRBO, or you can get a motel in Temple or Belton. The lake is super easy to run with almost no hazards until you get north of the Hwy36 bridge. There is one long shallow sandbar about a half mile above Cedar Ridge on your left going upstream. Stay closer to the high bluff banks on the right. Bass fishing has been pretty good all Spring, but by June it will start getting tougher. Topwater early and late and get out on the long points during the day. Tons of points to fish but only a few will be holding fish. Water is typically pretty clear and your normal clear water colors will work.

There is a restaurant on the lake by Franks Marina called Dead Fish Grill. The dinners are the average fare you would expect at a lakeside restaurant, but the brunch is really good and you cant beat the view. Down the street a few miles from there is a place called Fire Street Pizza that is pretty good. They also have a decent selection of local craft beers and live bands every so often.

That time of year the pleasure boats and jet skis will be out pretty strong by about 10AM, so just beware..... a lot of idiots on the lake mid-day. Work rock ledges close to deep water early and you may get a few surprise small mouth battles.
