So every time I try to throw a Ned rig unless I am fishing rocks I get grass and scrum from the bottom on it. Am I not throwing it in the right area? Am I doing something wrong. Even when I am in 10 foot of water I am getting [censored] all over it.

yes, you're throwing it in the wrong place. It's a bottom dragging bait. You could hop it or swim it, but if the bottom has [censored] on it, it will catch any and all.

If you have to use it on a muck bottom, drop shot it. It works very well.

Sounds like your like has a algae bloom wait till itโ€™s over and try it again or try the weed less style, neds will catch everything that swims just keep it in your hands and eventually you will catch em good luck

What weight are you using-a lighter weight will collect less bottom junk. Also, as said-try a drop shot with a pencil weight.

Try letting it sink initially then slowly reel it in above the bottom. A lot of people fish it like a mini-shaky head but I catch a ton of fish on it just gliding through the water column. Also, go light as possible. 1/16 or 3/32 are about the only weights I use. Ned Kehde has lots of articles on his methods if you want to look them up.

Find hard spots and throw it there. Should be most effective areas anyway.

Couldve sworn i seen a longer version of this video....but figure this is a good watch for you. Also, you can always just chuck the ned rig and spinning gear in the trash as an alternative option ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

+1. Have to drop shot when the bottom is nasty, can still use the ned plastic.

I wouldn't say I agree the Ned is a bottom dragging bait, at least videos from pros I've watched don't have them doing that.

I throw the ned rig a ton and have for a long long time. I never ever let it touch the bottom unless the water is colder than 40 degrees. Rest of the time it's a shake/reel/drop technique bait for me.

I throw the ned a ton and have for a long time. That's a head scratcher to me. 99% of my bites come bouncing the ned along the bottom. I swim it sometimes, but only in very specific situations, generally where the bottom doesn't allow contact.

If you read stuff on Ned Kehde himself or watch any videos he has about 7 different retrieves he throws with the ned rig but the one I described is the one he uses the most often I believe. I don't just shake mine a little, I shake the hell out of it on slack line while it's falling. Try it sometime, I think you will like it.

There was a really good article on ned rig in infisherman magazine 2 months ago. Gave plenty of techniques and where to fish them. Check it out.
