At this point he's like duckett. They just show up for the coverage and events. They make so much money outside of fishing the tournament.

I can't imagine the level of commitment and effort it takes to contend at that level. I know if I don't put in the effort to prepare properly I get my butt kicked in my club and in local/area trails. It probably gets harder and harder every year for guys who have already had phenomenal careers and are getting older. Technology has to play a role, too. Doing it the way we have always done it may not work as well anymore.

He still knows how to catch them and how to win. I bet he will find himself in the right conditions on the right body of water and have some more great tournaments.

At least KVD has competed for a spot in the final round a few times. Guys like Tim Horton, Matt Lee, Duckett and of course Jason Lambert are consistently at the bottom. Seems to me guys like that need to be replaced. MLF needs to come up with a way for the Pro Circuit to qualify for the BPT and the bottom 5 or so BPT guys get demoted. If not their product is going to get stale at some point. In the initial organization structure that was released when the BPT formed, there was a qualification system outlined. I think that has since been deleted.

The bottom 10 after af this year are supposed to get demoted, I believe they are taking a 3 year average, top 10 over the last 2 years of the pro circuit replace them. Next year bottom 10 BPT to top 10 TWPC swap out every year. Elite series is also doing a cut this year, 15 I believe, Jocumsen was talking about fighting for his tour card again.
