NO MORE BOAT RAMP ACCESS AT Corp of Engineer parks. There are changes taking place at Somerville and other Army Corp of Engineer parks on Texas lakes! The rules may be slightly different at other lakes.

A few years ago when I turned 62, they were pushing the America the Beautiful Lifetime PassFor $80.00. The pass holder benefits were free boat launch fees, and 50% discount on camping fees at national parks and COE parks.

I was Lake Somerville’s Yegua & Rocky Creek parks this weekend. It is posted that, as of Oct 1, 2021, they will no longer be recognizing the ATB Annual or Lifetime senior passes for free boat launches! That’s the main reason I purchased the pass!

Be Aware: Oct 1, NO ONE can access the boat ramps unless you have a camping reservation. There will be no cash or credit cards taken at the park entrances. The gates are currently staffed with contract employees but as of Oct 1, the staff will be volunteers only and will be eventually transitioning to an automated entry.

They are recommending boater use Overlook or a free ramp outside of Yegua Creek for day users but I’m a kayaker and that puts me a long way from my favorite fishing holes!

If you have the same concerns please see the attached link and call to voice your concerns.

These two links announce the changes.

I would think a first year lawyer could get them to honor/rebate/prorate your lifetime pass. Simple breach of contract?

The new Dems in charge just don't care. They just want your money.

That does suck. Hurts even more by just not allowing boaters to use the available ramps even if we do have to pay the fee.

Did it mention if this was going to be temporary? Maybe due to Covid? If not it does seem that you would either be grandfathered in or they should return some or all your money. This is the opinion of a man that has never spent a day in Court so take that into consideration.

Best of luck getting it worked out.

Rayburn is COE. Can't imagine them doing this there. I have the Golden Age/Senior pass.

Can't find any of this via Google. My card says "Lifetime Pass".

My Senior Lifetime Plus Pass says it is good for entry fees, and MAY entitle me to discounts, MAY NOT cover concession facilities or activities. As I understand it, launch ramps are concession facilities.

BTW, I paid $10 for my pass, just before they went up to $80. Thank you AARP.

I tried looking it up. Can't find anything when I search COE and passes or loss of pass privileges.

How about posting the link where you found it happening other places.

I looked it up last night. They are just trying to reduce the amount of traffic in an already overflowing campground. Campers need access to the boat ramp they paid to camp in. They are still allowing passes to access day use boat ramps. Only pertains to campground boat ramps.
