I quit in July, 1967, the first day I got to Vietnam. I figured there were enough things over there that could kill me without me adding to the list. I don't remember what prices were back then, but my best guess would be .35-.40/pack.
You had better things to smoke over there. They ended that nonsense just in time for me. When I was prime draft age I drew a 4.

I remember when I was in the service they were 35 cents a pack.
I quit in 1997.
Cannot imagine paying $9.50. Anything with taxes on it is going to go up now. I remember as a kid in Newport Beach that you could get a pack for about 50 cents. When I ran convenience stores, they were about $2.50 per pack. I'm so glad that I don't smoke.

Last pack I bought was $0.85 and I was complaining then.

I finally quit on Jan 2, this year. I now puff on my inhaler 4 - 6 times a day.
He is truly a sick individual.

Just a revenue producer for the government. If they want to make people quit, raise the tax to $50 a pack. Otherwise it is just another tax.
