My wife works with a lady that told me "if she had her way every gun in America would be destroyed". She knows both of us carry most everywhere we go, drives her nuts.  A true Texas example for you: A workgroup team I was part of had a teambuilding outing. The manager was open-minded enough to consider suggested options, one being to go to lunch and then a gun range. (I didn't suggest the gun range idea, but supported it.) We had several team members who had never fired a weapon but wanted to try it. I had to have help bringing in my cases - I brought enough for everyone to have one just in case they didn't bring their own.  Only one person (a guy, actually) was not fond of it after trying; two of the gals said they had no idea it would be so much fun. One petite blonde who had never fired a weapon before in her life was shooting a full-size .45 ACP before our session ended.
