Well, I broke one of my rules & went to FCL on Sunday. Looked at the weather forecast and it showed 15-20 mph winds pretty much all week. Battle the wind or battle the crowds...pick your poison. Anyway, slept in (like Laker) and got to the lake at 10:00 am...as suspected the parking lot at Oak Thicket was packed full...ski boats, bass boats, pontoon boats & flat bottoms everywhere. Fished off shore for a few hours until it started thinning out. Water level up to 390.47 MSL (almost full) and water temp was 73-77...last year on this date the water temp was 76-80. Had a real good day...ended up with 91 total (76 sunfish & 15 bass) The quality (size) of the sunfish is improving weekly. All fish today were caught on ultra lite tackle & Gulp Alive minnows in the "Smelt" color, with no additives.(worms, maggots etc) Called it quits at 6:30. Still no fish found in reeds, but it shouldn't be long. All fish released to fight another day... [Linked Image]

Alan...started out "offshore" & got 16 sunfish out there...Are you going this week ?

John...They are not back everywhere...I would say they are back in about 30 % of the places we normally fish. I also LOVE the "round" ones.

Jamie...Could not buy a bite in the reeds, but some of the tree areas are real good right now.

Thanks Yesenia, Leo & F4...

You are right about the wind. I fished today with my daughter who has not been in my current boat that I bought back in 2011. Very limited places we could fish. Got on the water around 11:00. Daughter had a work call at 9. I was thinking it was just as well because I did not get home until midnight last evening from hog hunting. Anyway we finally got on them and put 40 in the boat. Would probably have caught more but they got worked over real good by Steve yesterday. HaHa. We got off the lake around 4:15. I think they are just now getting ready to get in gear. The weather is just now getting back to normal temperatures for this time of year.

Nice. Those Berkley Gulps are what I use to catch shellcrackers here in Alabama.
