I did a double header yesterday- Boerne lake in the morning and the Guadalupe river in the afternoon. The lake was a slow day with not much to show for it. Hooked 3 small LMB and landed one so skinny I though it was a trout. Then I caught one average white bass and had another one that felt pretty big but the wind blew me in circles and my other line got wrapped all around me and the reel and I lost the fish.

Then I went over to the Guadalupe river and caught several fish but they were all small except the catfish, which was still small for a cat, but I had a great time seeing lots of fish including several gar that were about 16 to 20 inches. They were checking out my bobber and I actually saw them eating bugs on the surface like a trout. I caught several panfish, a couple small spotted bass, a tiny LMB and the catfish. It may be the most species I ever caught in a day: LMB, white bass, spotted bass, bluegill and whatever this sunfish is (red breasted?) plus a catfish, that makes 6 species in one day.

PS I didn't see any sign of bass spawning or any bass over 8 inches in Boerne. maybe they spawn in the creek? Didn't see anyone else catch anything that wasn't small either.

That's a great stretch of river. One of my favorites.

I think that's a long ear sunfish.
