Was able to fish Lake Mcqueeney this past Thursday. Fished from 3p till 8p to see how the late afternoon early evening bite would be. Had to fish solo. My fishing buddies had prior commitments. Fished by kayak. The bite started out good from 3:30p till 5:30p. Slowed down from 5:30p till 6p. After 6p I only caught two bass. Ended up catching 30 sunfish. Bluegill, Redbreast, and Redear. All in the 7 to 9 inch range. Four LMB in the 2 to 3 pound range, and one Channel Cat about 4 pounds. I did not target the crappie this trip. Bluegill/sunfish were caught in 8 to 10 feet of water hanging by docks and drop offs. Some of the females were carrying eggs. The bass were caught in coves in 7 feet of water and over by the Treasure Island bridge. The Channel Cat was caught by a dock while fishing for the Bluegill. The sunfish and catfish, were all caught on the Gulp Alive Leaches, Black in color using a drop shot method. The bass were all caught on a Silver/Black Rattle Trap. Water temperature was 68 degrees. All fish were released. Boat traffic was light. All in all a good day on Mcqueeney. woot

Good report Laker. You just about have your own private lake to fish.

Nice post Curtis. You are lucky to have access to a ramp on the main lake. Any signs of any Rios at your fishing spots? noidea

Thanks guys for the replies. Chuck. I have not yet caught my first Rio of the year. I usually have a couple by now. Have not seen any yet but I have not fished areas where they would normally be. I did fish a cove on Mcqueeney where I have caught them before but got nothing. With warmer weather coming up I am sure I will be catching a few. hooked

Side Note: Yes It is nice having a friend who lives on Mcqueeney! woot

Thanks Curtis. I have caught several Rios already this year. Two that were over 9 inches. I am seeing a lot of Rios on nest. Some of them are HUGE! Can't wait till summer time! hooked
