The two of us have been hitting GT regularly since before the cold snap.
End of Jan, water temps were 56-58 throughout. Mostly caught dinks. Then, the cold hit. After the thaw, water temps were 48-52. Did manage a few 2-3lbers and a bunch of dinks.
In March on one trip buddy caught a 5lber. The next trip, I caught a 4.5lber twice in the same day, morn and afternoon. Same bait. Stupid bass. The next few trips yielded a bunch of dinks with a few 2/2.5 lbers thrown in.
In April, we saw water temps from 58-67. The 67 was two weeks ago. I did catch a 6-15 partially spawned out fem. Then for some reason, water temps went down to 58-62 (yesterday). Only managed dinks yesterday.
All of these trips were to one cove, north side. Water temps are weird this year when at the end of April, temps are 62. Back of the cove has been even weirder with 59 one day to 67 the next trip and then back down to 62.
Anyway, have not seen one bed which tells me that most are spawning in 7-12ft and still spawning. You can see down to about 7 feet.
A word of warning, we have seen several places with giant salvinia. Probably won't last long with the up/down lake level.
