There is a ramp that the public can use. It is at the end of Lake Creek Road which runs off of FM 725. The ramp is not in that good of shape. I have seen boats launch with no problems. The ramp is owned by the Lake Creek HOA. All they ask is to keep the area clean and not to clean your fish in the area. The ramp is not close to the main lake. You need to be careful heading to the main lake. There are a couple of very shallow parts of the river you go through before getting to the main lake. thumb

Residents will have you towed or booted due to the parking situation so be careful.

I went once to check it out and changed my mind. This is not a true ramp and it is/was in bad shape. Also like Will said there is very limited parking (three maybe spots) and the neighbors will have you towed if not in the right spot. Not worth the possible problems for me to launch there and I only live 15 minutes away. Might try Placid instead and launch under the I-10 bridge. Not as good a lake to fish but it is accessible. Just beware of the ski people after 12ish.

I have access to the lake due to some close friends of mine but trust me I dont fish it during the summer at all unless its between 8pm- 2 or 3am. There is a reason its called Ski capital of Texas and most of the wake boats out there dont give a dang about you fishing.

Will.i.am is looking for friends. Announcing that you have access to that lake will for sure fill up your PM board. To me it is too bad that the dam broke on the wrong lake.

That's cruel but probably right. Lake McQueeney is Texas' best, publicly funded, PRIVATE lake.

You are right about that! thumb

Side Note: I have noticed a lot more boat trailers at the Lake Creek Ramp! Friends of mine who use the ramp on a regular basis have not had any problems. One of my friends did have to change his fishing plans to Placid because there was no more parking spaces at the Lake Creek Ramp. It has gotten more busy there this past year. Would not be surprised if it also becomes posted by their HOA. eeks

I have to amend this post. I just spoke to a Mr. Dee at GBRA. He said that GBRA only owns the land under the lake and all of the land around McQuenney is privately owned. He also that they receive no funding from the state. He said that their funds come from power generation. Nevertheless, I do not personally know of a single other lake in Texas that is owned and maintained this way. So, all in all, it is still a private lake.

If you're contesting what Mr. Dee told me, call him and talk to him about this information. Then, report back as to what he said. I called, now someone else call.

It is very apparent that there is a lot more going on with this than anyone wants to talk about or make public.

We have friends who have a house on the lake. They openly brag about how it's public but the public can't access it.

And fishing 9-2 is generous, we saw people skiing at breakfast.
