The new ones are light years better. They upgraded the interiors in 2014/2015 and my 2018 was freaking awesome - hardest part of not owning that truck is the controls/seat/radio awesomeness. But I put too many miles on a vehicle to keep driving something that gets 18 mpg. I bought a Camry hybrid for $8k and sold my Ram for $30k and used the other $22k as a down payment on a 2019 Silverado 2500 duramax for towing. So now I've got good towing and good mpg...just not all in one vehicle.

What year is that Camry? The wife wanted a retirement car and she's been driving a Mercedes SUV and wanted something smaller. She also wanted one bullet proof and she has driven two Camry's although the last one she bought was in 2000.
We test drove a Venza SUV which got amazing mpg for its size at 39 but she also test drove the Camry and immediately changed her mind. The Camry hybrid she chose so far gets in the upper 40's but we have not yet filled the gas tank. On a trip to Ft Worth the other day I ended up getting 49 mpg.

2014. Camry is as close to bulletproof as it gets. Not elite mpg like Nissan or the smaller cars that get 50+ mpg, but still decent. If you get a non-hybrid, get one of the newer ones (I think it's 2017+) that have the 8-speed and get much better mpg. The older non-hybrids get upper 20s, which isn't so great for a non-luxury sedan.

So to summarize, I'd either get an older hybrid, or a newer non-hybrid. Either of those are excellent vehicles. If she's used to a Mercedes, I'd get a newer non-hybrid (or a newer hybrid is fine too). Just don't get an older non-hybrid if you're looking for mpg.

Camry's are great. I'm on my 4th one since 2001. It's a 2019. Bulletproof explains them. My 2019 gasser is getting around 35mpg with pretty hard driving and a peppy 4 banger. The suspension is so upgraded since 2000 so doesn't even drive like the older Camry's.

Advice? Wise men don't need it. Fools won't heed it.

You’re correct. It’s a thread about something that sucks harder than Camry’s. Well, 2 somethings: f150’s, and you.

Okay, well maybe we can continue with the Camry discussion, but let's keep it on topic with eyetalian dressing related banter.

That was rude. You need to watch how you talk about F150's.

Tune up (plugs and check each coil pack) and oil change with a few ounces of sea foam in crank case and run a full can in 6 or 8 gallons of gas......if it's still wonky I'd be surprised

Would it be wonky, if it’s the water pump?
