Jerad pool guides out there in May/late April depending on spawn. His boat has quite a few over 10 each year. Believe he had a 14+ last year. He has atleast 12 over 10lbs this year between lbj and Ivie since March.

The Beacon lodge at Snyder on 180 across freeway from Rip Griffin truck stop( derrick with motel sign ) used to be the best place, around 50 a night. It's a 45 minute drive drive or same from Post and best Western at 100 + a night.

I live in Lubbock and think I will buy a yearly permit to Allen Henry this year. Being a Lubbock resident and a senior the vehicle ($40) and boat ($40) is only $80 for the year. Being 1 1/2 hour drive I like to stay a few days once I get there which for me means one of their primitive camping spots ($10) sleeping in the truck, a tent or dragging the boat with the Motorhome which creates a host of different problems. Good news is I heard they added electric and water to the camp sites since I was there last. They don't seem to promote the lake much which means more fishing for the rest of us. The rest of the time I go to Buffalo Springs, don't laugh, its 20 min away and I caught a 5 lb fat girl last year. I can park the motor home on the shoreline, stay all week, take the truck out there to haul the boat and its only about three times the price of Allen Henry.

He has at least 12 over 10lbs this year between lbj and Ivie since March. I fished with him last May 3 days after he caught the 14.77. It was 0.23 off the lake record. That young man knows his stuff for the sight fishing gig. Good guy. A little on the high side for guides but you judge a hunter by his trophies and he has some big ones. He posted on his FB page a vid of his client catching a 13.3 last week. Look at Hillcountry Hammer.

When we were going out there around 2005-2008, the road that led to the lake had a nice motel looking construction going up. They prolly didn't make it after the sharelunkers quit showing up. Some of the clearest water in Texas....almost like running a river system. Make sure to swing wide on sharp turns. Used to be regular head on collisions out there a long time ago when the lake was loaded with bass boat and ski boats. It's the only lake that I've had a 10plus in my boat with exception of a border lake, but I didn't catch her. My buddy robbed me of a 10.2 and I'm glad that he caught her.
