A group of us from work are planning a trip to Galveston this next Sunday and Monday with a one night stay Sunday night. We are looking at getting a place where we can park the boat and trailer and launch close by along with good bait to purchase at the launch along With something reasonable it and doesn’t have to be fancy. Again just to lay our heads down and be close to launching and bait. I noticed a hotel called harbor inn marina at per 21 as it’s a little pricy. Any help on some locations or location to stay would be appreciated as we want to be close so we can put in and hit the jettis. Thanks. In advance.

not a lot of places to launch on the island with bait. Tx City dyke has bait at the start of the dyke and a couple good ramps. i'd use the one at the far end. motels on 146 with parking and security.

Hwy 146 at 1764.....nice place and Denny's for breakfast. As I stated in the other post, don't leave anything in your boat and truck. Bring inside. Boyds One Stop Bait and Tackle is at the base of the Dike. Has everything you need and don't need. NO BOOZE sold there at all. It's a big place. No bait camps on the dike anymore after Hurricane IKE. Best ramp/s are at the end of the dike with A LOT of parking. BTW...on weekends the City charges a fee to get on the dike BUT, if you get there REAL EARLY you may skate the charges!!

So ? What about the screen mounted in the boat and the trolling motor. ? Also we are going to fish the jettis on a Sunday and Monday and was told to put in at Galveston bait and tackle as it’s a quick shot from there down the ship channel to the jetties. What’s your thoughts ?

about the same distance from either place. weird parking at the causeway. have to park down the street a bit and walk. the dyke has plenty parking close.

The jetty’s sucked. But hey we had fun and managed a few. Anytime away from work is a good day. Thanks for all the advise.

be careful parking your boat anywhere safest place to park is galveston yacht basin talk to lance about parking there there is a la quinta near there on sea wall but theft is bad all over. yacht basin has security and cameras plenty of parking GYB boat ramp is awesome and they have a good bait house you will need 300k insurance on your boat to launch there

Love to take my boat down, but scared to death to park the boat and truck anywhere overnight.
