Husky, Stihl and Echo.....and run premixed can gas in them! Or mix your own with ethanol free gasoline. If you cut a lot of wood then get an electric sharpener with a grinding wheel. I got one from Harbor Freight. It works well and no complaints.

I'm in the market for one with a 16 or 18 inch bar. Renting one adds up over time so I might as well have my own. Which one would y'all prefer? How much you gonne cut? You might look up the "Electric Chainsaw" thread for a few weeks ago.

Husqvarna, Stihl, and Echo are all great brands. If you are just cutting a little wood on occasion then one of the electric ones might be a good choice.

Ran Stihl for many years, then tried a Husky and finally an Echo. Wouldn't trade my Echo for a truck load of Stihls and Huskys. All my equipment is now Echo, simple reason is that they always start, every time.Ran/owned Stihl for 40+ years, great, powerful saws when they ran. Gave up, bought a Husky and was very disappointed with it's lack of grunt. Cut one load of wood and returned it to the dealer. Bought an Echo and ain't never looked back.

You'll get what you pay for in the 3 brands recommended on this thread. Go to one of the big box stores and buy one of the $249 saws and you aren't getting many upgrades. Go to a saw shop and talk to the guys there and pick their brains. I know I bought a professional grade Husqvarna back in 2003 and it still going strong. I've been thru 2 major hurricanes and maintain 50 acres of mixed timber.
If you look at the timber guys around here out in the woods they all have Husqvarna or Stihl.
A really good intermediate saw is the Husqvarna Rancher 450 which is available at the big box stores. $400. Make sure your oiler reservoir is always got oil.
Advice? Wise men don't need it. Fools won't heed it.

Pulp wood dude told me Husky or Stihl. I have a husky but I also have an echo weed eater. Both good.

How many of you have used one of these bad boys. I used one back in the day, but haven’t even seen one for years.

Husky, Stihl and Echo.....and run premixed can gas in them! Why pre-mix gas? wayyyyy longer shelf life and ethanol free, True Fuel guarantee is at least 2 years. Also don't have separation issues or mixing errors. It is expensive but chain saws don't use much and it doesn't go bad.
