Had some friends that were told to leave state park last night because lake would be closed today for demolition of the power plant. Anyone hear anything about the long term?

TPWD’s website for Fairfield doesn’t mention any closure when I try to reserve for today. It usually says if the Park is going to be closed.

The power company is trying to sell the land including the state park, hope not but it could be a private lake at some point.

Don't think they can sell a state park. That land was purchased and owned by the state or are we missing something in the fine print??

Fairfield plant and Monticello plant were purchased by clp in January. My bet is they will develop the plant side of the lake

Private buyers are making an offer next week. They would let the parks lease run till the end of the year then it would become a private lake.

Where did you hear that? Both kids shot one of there first deer there, this would break my heart.

Lady at the gate told me today that the land is being sold...she said some groups are wanting to build private properties on the lake (yikes) but said the hope is that TPWD will purchase it. She said the current lease expires December 2022, so my guess is we get a verdict by next summer.

Those power plants are BAD news! When you have as much EXTRA electricity like we have in Texas, shut 'em down! I like freezing to death in the winter and burning up in the winter when the electricity goes out.

When the epa makes it impossible for coal plants to make a profit they go away.
