I got the new boat itch. I've had a Cobra 201 for well over a decade and it needs a new motor and I'm just tired of dealing with an older boat. I'm cheap, so I thought I would look at tin boats. The Vexus 2080 with 200HP looks comparable to my boat, but it's $50k brand new. The comparable Xpress boats are no cheaper. Just tell me why I would be an idiot to buy a tin boat when I could go get a glass boat for pretty much the same price. I fish Palestine the majority of the time and I like to fish shallow and deep.

I’m a glass guy. I hate fishing out of tin. Way too much drifting around. Also not a fan of the way tin rides in rough water. Resale isn’t great either. If I was strictly a shallow river rat I could see where it would we the best choice.

If you are over the age of 40 and have grown to appreciate comfort along with a stable bass fishing platform, you will definitely want to go with fiberglass. If you like to weather vane in the wind while "back boating" your fishing partner and side swiping everything in your path in a cross wind and made to stumble every time someone moves in the back of the boat, go with aluminum .

For the price and unless you’re fishing creeks/rivers, I can’t see going with tin.

I rode in a Xpress 21, they’re nice when it’s not rough, and doesn’t really go anywhere I can’t take my
Boat. I’ll stick with my Phoenix 921 elite

Stew, I do not consider you cheap if you are considering NEW tin or glass...lol. Why not buy a like new pre-owned glass boat, that way you are just replacing your current glass boat and motor with a newer rig. Just an option to consider....good luck!

Zx200 which is only an inch shorter than my 201 I do have a 250 compared to the 200, but it still appears to be a 70mph boat or close to it.

70mph maybe with papa Smurf driving it and not a ounce of fuel or a single rod. More like 63-64 mph boat which is plenty fast

I can only go with what I read on the Internet since I don’t know anyone with a zx200, but it appears to be a high 60’s boat just like the Vexus 2080 from what I have read. I’m not 100% on how much a zx225 goes for, but I bet it’s not much more than low $50’s...all this to say, I don’t see how I’m getting more boat for the money from the tin so I think I’ll hold off since the only thing I have to support buying it is that I think it looks cool.

You can get a budget package nitro z20 with a 225 merc for $45k. Add a few upgrades and it’s $52k. Move to a 19 TRX Triton with 2 hds9’s and a ghost TM and it’s $55k. (Prices are approx, but close)
