Broke my new St Croix legend tournament 6-10

No great fish catching stories with monster fish and violent hook sets swinging 10lb pigs into the boat. Just plain sat down on it by accident.

Snapped like a piece of kindling.

Reaching out to St Croix today to test their warranty.

Will report back.

You sat down on it and it broke and you expect them to warranty it?

You know, there wasn’t a warning label about sitting down on it.

There was not - didn't expect one.

St Croix has a lifetime warranty. I have no idea if that entails stupidity or not. 21xs I'm not expecting anything - Like I said, we will see.

I'll report back.

So...you broke it due to negligence and want to see if they will replace it under warranty? Sounds like theft, IMO. Are you gonna be up front and honest about how you broke it?

I have been to their factory in Park Falls, WI and they're a great company. I'd be shocked if they didn't replace it.

Some companies will with no questions asked.

Other companies look for every excuse they can to keep from warrantying an item or to void an warranty. argue

Not sure if their policy remains the same but this was St Croix email response in 2016 when I asked for recommendations on what rod tip they recommended to put on a 7 foot rod that was now 6 feet 10 inches long due to me closing the tailgate on it:

Quote
You can send in the rod and we will replace it with a brand new rod. If the damage was accidental it would be $55. If it is a warranty issue the replacement is no charge, it is $20 for the return shipping and handling.

So if you back into a light pole and bust your tail light do you take it to the dealer and insist on warranty? With the attitude of fishermen and expectations to warranty rods when they break regardless of age or what caused it rod company’s are going to keep making their warranties stricter and shorter.
I wonder if the OP will tell St Croix how he really broke it or that he was setting the hook.

Hell I didn't even know rods had warranties. Every rod I've ever had break I just chalked it up to learning experience. 90% have been my fault to though.

Oh boy, The TFF Karen’s are out in full force this morning.

Of course, I’m going to tell them how it broke. Why would I have posted how I broke it if I wanted to lie to someone. I don’t think they are stupid when it comes to their own product and reviewing any damage.

I’m fortunate I can afford quality gear and choose to purchase St Croix rods for a handful of reasons. They have an excellent warranty is my understanding. And I have no issues with how they choose to handle it. I’m anticipating they’ll be easy to work with. I am getting ready to find out.

I’ll report back.

But by all means, keep up watchdog comments if it makes you feel better. Im happy to send you a box of tissues if I offend anyone.

I guess the karens don't know when you buy a $300 rod they come with perks like low cost replacement.

Service & Warranty - St. Croix Rodshttps://stcroixrods.com › pages › service-warranty-2020
If your rod was damaged due to faulty workmanship, then of course we will cover the cost of the repair or replacement during the warranty period. However, if evidence indicates that the damage is due to an accident, normal wear or neglect, then we'll advise you of the additional cost to repair or replace your rod.
