I've retired, purchased a Hobie Outback and have spent most of my time chasing Stripers on Lake Texoma. Striper fishing from a kayak is tough, but when you get into them, it is truely amazing.

I was just curious as to what other 'Yakers' enjoy fishing for and there faviorite lakes to fish from. Thanks in advance.

Congrat's on retirement and the Hobie. Honestly, I'm thrilled if anything takes my hook, but my favorite's are crappie and blue gill. Fun to catch and taste great on the grill.

Monticello for bass, Texoma for smallmouth and stripers in freshwater. Tarpon, snook, and bonefish in the saltwater.

A good rule of angling philosophy is not to interfere with another fisherman's ways of being happy, unless you want to be hated.

I cant single out 1 species. When I wanna kick back and chill I like cats. If I'm taking kids, cats or sandies. If I can get to the coast, kings and shark are tons of fun. Gator gar for most camping trips that aren't coastal.

Redfish hands down for me. If I'm fishing freshwater it's catfish.

Last year, I dedicated most of the hot summer months to chasing large perch. It gave me a chance to learn how to fish out of a kayak, and to ensure I caught fish while learning. It was a very simplified way to fish and I will probably do it again most of this summer. Just a simple ultralight rod and a cup or worms (and a few beers in a cooler)

Bass and crappie 75% of the time. I sometimes chase the sandies... and on rare occasions, I will go after eating size cats.

I keep telling myself that I need to learn stripers on Texoma... one of these days I will smile

I'm blessed to live near the coast, so I fish fresh and saltwater. When saltwater fishing, I actually get out and wade fish.

Yes sir I agree. They've been a passion of mine for roughly 25 years. I grew up running trotlines catching catfish but when I was introduced to redfish all that went out the window. There's nothing like paddling up on a tailing red or even better a school of tailing reds IMO. They're pretty good at the table too thumb

Stripers at the moment, usually Texoma. I hope to get to the coast within a couple months, just have to round up partners to go, which might mean I end up with a new favorite…or two! Now if you want different, bowfishing can be a lot of fun too!
