Anyone doing any fishing there? Head that way in a week or so and thought I might try it when I give all my money to the Tribe.

Have not; passed through there once. I saw one small stream in town. It was almost dry if I recall. You're going to have to do some HW I imagine.

if it ain't chartreuse, it's got no use.

I was there last fall, did some fishing in Grindstone reservoir, where there were some spooky little bass along the shore. Alto lake had a bunch of bank fishers picking up little stockers. If there's anything in Eagle Creek larger than a pinky, I'd be surprised, but it's possible, and a lovely walk. Had the best luck in the river along Gavilan Canyon Rd, near the high school softball field. The water was mostly ankle deep, it would have been called a creek in here in Austin, but there were some stocked rainbows holding in the holes. Caught one in the overflow of a bridge.

This is probably a better time of year for it.

Plan on hitting the ball park pool as our rental is just down the street. Also have a couple of holes in upper canyon. If there is enough water that is clear down past the race track I for sure will be there. Where is Eagle Creek located, as I have never heard of it.

I'd be interested in hearing the results!

Eagle Creek flows out of Alto reservoir, there's a greenspace and a hiking trail that follow it for maybe a mile? I think that if there are floods, the stockers get down in there. There's a couple of washing-machine sized pools where they could hole up for a while.

There is a place on the reservation called Eagle Lakes.....not to be confused with Eagle creek. It's two larger ponds that are stocked. Well past Alto and Grindstone up in the mountains. Higher elevation, very cool to hear elk bugling early in the morning. It's been several years since I was there so I am assuming it's till open to fishing. Allowed camping by one of the ponds. Pay the tribe a small fee at a check in trailer and have fun. The guys who know how to fly fish usually catch 5X the rest of us using bait. I would kill the trout using a small clear bubble about a foot up from a fly.

Good information rkd. Just got back last night and it will be about 3 months before I can go again. What was the elevation of them. Takes me a while to adjust to anything over 9,000 feet so I may not have time to adjust to go that high.

Eagle Lakes is roughly 8400 in elevation. The good news is you can drive right up to the ponds. The bigger pond is the first you'll see off the road and is not as good for fishing as the smaller pond that is a little farther past the pay station. With the recent COVID situation I do not know if the reservation has kept these ponds/camp grounds open so you may want to call ahead before making the long drive up the mountain.
