Has your parents ever told you to Walk Facing Traffic? I preached this to my grandson when he was a lot younger. I see adults walking for exercise that have their back to the traffic. Not me.

Only thing I was told was to go play in traffic. I think my parents didn’t realize that it could be dangerous.

If you'd stay off the sidewalk, that wouldn't be an issue.

I think it goes back to before there were lots of sidewalks and/or wide shoulders. on roads. Same thing for wearing bright, visible clothing.

They also taught, and encouraged siblings and me to chase the mosquito spraying truck on our bikes. I was always my stepdad’s favorite child because I could get the deepest in the cloud, and stay there the longest. Now days they want everybody to be equal so they discourage that kind of competition. The dirty libs ruin everything!

Mosquito spraying truck. Man that brought back some good memories. That was the highlight of a hot muggy Summer afternoon, riding your bike in the spray!

If I remember right, even as a kid, I didn’t want to get run over by a car and avoided that situation.
