Fished FCL solo yesterday. Doc decided to stay home with the pending birth of his future fishing partner. Lake water level pretty much back to normal & temps ranged from mid 70s to around 80 degrees. The wind was a challenge, especially later in the afternoon. Overcast skies in the morning & pretty sunny all afternoon. The bluegill bite continues to be a major disappointment, but the bass bite remains strong. Fished for bluegill about 80% of the day & concentrated for bass at 20%...focusing on bass at the end of the day. Ended the day with around 20 gils & 25 bass. The 3 bass in the solo pics came in a 20 minute strech between 6 pm & 6:20 pm in the timber. Really missed my "net man", but had he been there I am pretty sure I would have been the one holding the net for him. Had a real nice sunset for the ride home & the bluebonnet fields around La Grange are awesome...

Nice job Steve. The bluegill bite has to turn on soon I would think. I would have been there but I got a contractor pouring and stamping an extension to my back patio. Hopefully they will finish up by tomorrow. Doc and I are mapping out our Conroe strategy.

Those are some very nice bass, and not too shabby bluegill, the quality is definitely out, the volume must be coming soon.

Thanks guys & gals...Yes, we do need the rain in the worst way. John...I sure hope it returns to past glory...While the second half of the day ended well, I had 10 total fish from daybreak til noon. Should have put more effort into the bass in the am, but get a little stubborn at times.

Good trip there Steve! 2021 continues to produce good numbers with an overall increase in the quality of fish caught. I called it a day around 2:00 pm sorry I missed you at the ramp to trade notes. 😀 Hope to visit with you and Doc in the future.

Great post Vogey and some very nice fish. Glad to see the stick ups holding some nice bass. Wait till the Redear move in.


Side Note: Bet by early May the Bluegill/Sunfish will be taking over!
