I hear that there are plans in the works to build a 40 slip Sailboat marina/resort/restaurant just south of the new SRA park being built on the east side of Fork...

Well you officially upset Mother nature, fished from 7am to 6pm in whistling wind today. Brutal, thank goodness for minn kota... Still amazes me to see the wind torture a trolling motor.

Been biding my time waiting for my trim motor to come back from the rebuilder. I keep saying "its too windy to be on the lake anyway". I Should be on the water next week, I hope, wind or no wind. I wish I could afford a new trolling motor.

The wind will blow till it's so hot. Then you can't find a breeze.

Are all Texas lakes windy? Seems like every time I go the wind is up to 15-20 mph each and every time. Always this way? It seems that way. When it is real windy I pick a lake that is fairly "shallow" and has ramps close to coves that can keep the wind broken a little. I'm mostly concerned with waves while running the lake.

40 mph gusts this afternoon on Ray Bob. Spring is usually windy but this year it seems like the gusts are a bit higher than normal.
Probably what's more abnormal is the temperatures. We've hovered right at 80 a few days but for early April, I'm surprised we haven't had more consistent warm weather until this week. Last week seemed cooler than normal for this time of year.

Most of us enjoy fishing in the spring and fall when temperatures are pleasant and, generally speaking, the fish are shallow and active. In Texas that's when the wind blows.
When does it not blow? Once the spawn is over, it's 95 degrees, and not nearly so pleasant to be out. It also doesn't blow much in the dead of winter, under high pressure and bluebird skies when it's 25 degrees after a cold front. 95 degrees? More like 105 LOL

It only blows when you have time to go to the lake.

Not at the moment...but it's really making me look into shallow water anchor systems. 10' would be ideal for what I fish.

I didn't know what to do yesterday when the wind stopped, lake was glass and It was strange but familiar. But they will likely replace the fuse in the wind and it will come back on any minute.
