Myself and Rick aka Catyakker made a trip to one our Redear spots and it paid off! We fished from 10am till 3pm and caught some very nice Redear. The fish were all in the 8 to 10 inch range. The biggest was 10.25". We also caught a few bass in the 14" range. The bite would last for about 30 minutes and then stop. We would fish different areas with the same results. We caught a bunch but had to work for them. The bite will only get better. All fish caught were healthy, fat, and full of fight. Fish were found in 5 to 7 feet of water holding in grass beds. We also caught some in 3 to 4 feet of water by reeds. All fish were released to fight again. Fish were caught on worms using float techniques. Fishing with the Catyakker. It just don't get any better.

Side note: looks like your redear spawn is running about 2 weeks behind compared to the ones in our area.
It sure is the perfect time to go after them

Thanks Steve and Leo for the replies. The spawn has been weird this year. Some water bodies I have fished the spawn is over or has just started. Other water bodies the spawn has not started at all. Guess the major freeze we had played a factor.

Boy howdy, what fun catching fat slabs on ultra light. And we don't even need a boat, just a bucket to sit on and to put any records we may want to submit. I tell you what, fishing with Banker is always an experience worth remembering. He sure knows his stuff about catching them "BIG UNS" when comes to sunfishing.

Here they come! Right on time! Big ole swimming clouds! Their spawn is probably about two to three weeks away if conditions are favorable! Great time had by all with Chuck as the guide! Good deal, Sir!
